Why Shabad Kriya?
I’ve been practicing Kundalini yoga since 2012 and teaching it since 2016. Over the years, I’ve seen its profound impact on my own nervous system and sleep quality, and now research supports its benefits!
In 2021, during my graduate studies in sleep medicine, Harvard Medical published a groundbreaking study in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine which found that practicing this Kundalini meditation led to dramatic improvements in sleep, even compared to active sleep hygiene techniques.
Here’s what the study
revealed:
- Faster sleep onset: Participants who practiced this meditation fell asleep quicker, with over 80% reducing their sleep onset time to under 30 minutes.
- More restorative sleep: Total sleep time and sleep efficiency (the percentage of time in bed spent actually sleeping) significantly improved.
- Lasting results: Over 50% of participants reduced their insomnia severity by at least 8 points, with improvements
sustained 6 months after treatment.
In short, Kundalini yoga was shown to help people fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and feel better-rested compared to traditional sleep hygiene practices.
